Remembering is Forgetting marks the sixth year of Douglas Diaz’s journey as an artist. In this exhibition, Douglas has a particular interest in the act of remembering and forgetting. This idea originated from our conversation about the works, which is connected with a certain situation that pits a man to struggles with his memories. This becomes urgent when Douglas experienced a broken-hearted moment when his beloved passed away. Even though the practice of abstract painting has automatically provided a therapeutic space for him, Douglas gains a new understanding: his art practices confronts him with his past and leads to a new understanding.
